Beautiful and graceful peacocks are one of the main sources of inspiration in the Dai culture.

Local people consider it as a holy peacock bird and a symbol of good fortune and happiness. In a Buddhist writing, Rajas Peacock ( long live the king ) is a boudhisattva flying astride a peacock, with a lotus and a peacock tail in hand.

Dai worship the peacock in festivals and religious ceremonies and spirit is exalted in dances, poetry and storytelling.
